One of the things we love to do on the weekends is go fishing. Russ and I have so much fun at our local catch and release pond. Lately though (and thanks to the rain) there has been so much plastic in the pond. While we already don’t love seeing trash everywhere we go, Ryder is a garbage disposal. He loves to eat all of the plastic he can find. So we have started making a conscious effort to cut down on plastic realizing what it does to all of the animals who come into contact with it.
Russell and I both are bad about drinking 2-3 bottles of gatorade or water a day and wasting tons of plastic. He finally made the switch to a water bottle a few months back, but I couldn’t find one I loved. Thing is – I hate the way our apartment tap water tastes so filling up a water bottle with it just didn’t seem as appealing. Thankfully, we invested in the Brita Water Pitcher when we moved in, so I already loved the brand and was excited to find the Brita Filtering Bottle. I’ve been using it for the past 10 days or so and I love it.
After doing a little research on this water bottle, I found out that the Brita Filtering Bottle can replace 1,800 plastic water bottles a year! That is crazy. Also, they are durable and BPA free which I have just learned in the past couple of years to look for after ruining bottle after bottle. It also comes in 6 bright and fun summer colors. I had a really hard time deciding between this seafoam color and the fuchsia (you guys know I love my pink). I also loved how affordable it was and how much money I would save from not having to buy bottle water all of the time. Honestly, it is so handy to have water with me when I am on the go, at work, or in this case having fun fishing with my boys.
I am choosing to #PutFiltersFirst, I would love to know what you guys do to make sustainable choices!
