OMG! I cannot believe how fast this week went. Can you believe it is already Thursday? I am so excited for the weekend. It is supposed to be so nice on Saturday. Russell and I have a charity event to go to for the Red Cross on Friday so I am busy trying to plan an outfit for that. It is going to be so fun & there is promised to be some great food (I LOVE food ;)). We are also going away for the weekend to a dirt bike race. There is a supposed to be some great patios and restaurants in the town we are going to so I am definitely bringing this look along.
Although I love the hunt for new clothes and styles, I have a few pieces in my closet that I can’t seem to get rid of. This black off the shoulder pom dress has been one of my closet staples for the past two springs. I LOVE it. It is comfortable, flowy, and so fun! I wore this dress to every outdoor occasion I could last summer. With all of the tassels and pom pom trends on clothing this season, it looks like it will be on repeat again.
One great thing about this dress is that the color is so neutral. A lot of people do not like to and/or don’t think of wearing black in the spring and summer. I am a firm believer that the right accessories & shoes can transform black into the perfect spring staple.
I am obsessed with bright accessories, especially for spring and summer. They truly make your outfit POP and they are a great way to introduce your own unique style to an outfit. With black being traditionally thought of as a fall and winter color, bright accessories and colorful and lighter shoes are a must. I styled this look with three of my favorite spring accessories (two I picked up at the Francesca’s friends & family event last week)
First up are these embroidered chambray shoes. I can’t get enough of the embroidered trend. I have been wearing things like this almost my whole life in some way or another (especially on our vacations to Mexico) so I am super excited about how easy they are to find now. I loved that these heels were chambray, it gives you freedom with styling for both casual and a little dressier outfits. They are also so unique. I can definitely see more styles like this on the blog this summer. They were perfect with this dress and really made it feel like spring.
Second, are these great Stella & Dot tassel earrings! I loved the shoes with this dress, but I felt like it was missing something. I really wanted to have something tie in with the shoes. Then I remembered these gorgeous earrings. With my shorter hair, I was worried about getting any tassel earrings. I thought that they might be too long or awkward with my hairstyle. These turned out perfect. They are lighter weight than I expected and the different colors of blue really pulled in the flowers from my shoes. Not to mention they can transform into a stud by removing the tassel, how perfect is that?
Finally, I hit the jackpot with this straw clutch. I loved all of the bright colored poms. The second I saw it I knew I had to have it. The fact that it was under $25.00 and came in both of these colors made it even better. It was perfect to pair with this black dress to really make the clutch stand out while also making the dress transition into spring. It will be perfect with almost any outfit, but I loved the idea of them with this one. Sidenote: Be sure to check out Abigail Says next week for a detailed colab post 🙂 and more pics like above.
Tying in all three was not as hard as it sounds. The great thing about these shoes being chambray rather than just a plain blue is that it allows them go with a lot of different colors. You do not necessarily have to have blue in the clutch (although this one does) to have it match these shoes. Also, mixing the poms with the tassel earrings might seem like a lot. I decided to go for it. Since the black is more neutral you can go a little bit bolder with colors and textures. It also made the look so much more fun and really pulled all of the colors together.
What are your opinions on black for spring? Thank you guys for reading, as always please let me know if you have any questions about the pieces!
