Tie waist shorts have been a been a huge favorite of mine for the past couple of years, especially those from Loft. This style, both shorts & pants, are everywhere! I mean it, from boutiques to large retail changes, everyone is carrying them.
I snagged these shorts last summer from Loft and they have quickly become a wardrobe staple. I always try to keep what I am wearing current season so that it can be easy for y’all to shop the exact look. When I realized this trend was here to stay, I knew I had to share these shorts. I love mixing my current wardrobe with new pieces to change up the look and to bring renewed inspiration for your current wardrobe. Blouses and shorts are great because you can constantly mix old and new to get the perfect look and stay within your budget which is what I did here.
I am so sad these exact shorts are not available so I have linked similar shorts from Loft above and another pair I love here. They are so comfortable! I mean seriously, you will feel like you are wearing pajama’s, but you will look cute and chic. The fit is incredible. It is super flattering and the material doesn’t seem to wrinkle which is great! I love easy & low maintenance looks during the summer. Who wants to spend their day steaming shorts? Not me, so these are my new best friend for hot days spent shopping or hanging out on the patio with friends
I styled these with a cute (and comfortable) pair of wedges to dress them up the plain bodysuit a bit. With looser fitting shorts, I tend to go smaller and sleeker on the top so this V-neck body suit was perfect. It is super light and breathable, and adds to a seamless look with the shorts. I find that tucking and untucking your shirt can be such a pain, especially when you are shopping so having something as easy as a body suit can really make the whole trip more enjoyable.
Has anyone else given this trend a try? I’ve had a lot of people tell me they are nervous this style won’t flatter their shape but I am here to tell you that’s a total myth. I dare you to try them ;), they might just surprise you!
I am curious, is there anything you would like to see more of on thefinishingtouchokc.com? If so, let’s chat! Have a good weekend!
Hi! Happy #workwearwednesday! I know work wear posts are a little different than my usual, but I really love the idea of sharing the colors I love both in everyday clothes and work attire.
I have always promised to be real with my readers so here it is: I love the looks I post, but typically I am only able to wear them on the weekends, my days off, or on random nights out. So I really have had to find a way to introduce my style in new a fun ways. That is where Loft comes in.
Loft is the perfect place to find cute, bold, and colorful work clothing. Pair that with their amazing sales and your work look can be complete with one stop. I found this gorgeous lace pencil skirt on sale at loft last spring and ever since I keep my eyes out for other lace skirts like it.
Lace is a great way to add a little texture and a little fun to your look while also keeping it professional. I paired this turquoise skirt with this light pink shell from Target and a great pair of neutral wedges. I found that adding this pastel color in the top helped to change the look, while also remaining chic and stylish. To stay within our office guidelines, I typically will pair it with a cute button down sweater for the office and throw on a jean jacket for any after work activities.
I think it is important to remember that sitting in an office all day does not have to be boring. It is great to add your personality into your looks! I hope this post gave you inspiration.
I would love to hear from you, what is your take on #workwearwednesday posts?
Hi everyone! Happy Memorial Day!
I hope you all are enjoying this long weekend. Russell and I are going to a fun family BBQ today in honor of his brother. There will be lots of fun outdoor games, some yummy punch, and lots of food! I am not sure if you all know this or not, but both Russell and his brother Clark are both in the United States Air Force (Guard). We found out awhile ago that Clark will be getting deployed in a couple of weeks and won’t be home until spring of 2018, so this is a sort of farewell party. We figured what better time to do it than on Memorial Day.
Memorial Day & Fourth of July are such fun holidays to dress for. I plan on re-wearing this adorable chambray top I shared in Instagram a couple of weeks ago. I seriously am in love with it. Not only is it super cute and flattering, but I love the details of the cut outs and the raw hems. I also really like the darker chambray. Usually, the stores in Oklahoma and the online boutiques tend to carry lighter colors and thinner materials so I was so excited when I saw this one at Dillard’s (& on SALE). I was not able to find this exact one online for you but I have linked a similar one by the same brand above. If you are totally in love with this one be sure to check the contemporary section of your local Dillards :).
I love the idea of chambray and white jeans together, but for the BBQ I am planning on going a little more casual with a pair of lace up sandals and white jean shorts. I have linked one of my favorite pair that happen to be on major sale. I also am thinking of going out of my comfort zone with a cute red bandanna around my neck. Has anyone else completely fallen in love with this trend? If you are needing inspiration check out one of my favorite bloggers, Dede of Dress Up Buttercup, she is always wearing the cutest neck scarfs!
What are you planning for today?
Happy Friday & Memorial Weekend!!! Who else is ready for pools to be open and summer to start?
Sorry I have been MIA the past couple of weeks, I have been so busy with work and vacation. If you follow me on Instagram then you know I was in Cancun, Mexico with my family and my boyfriend, Russell. It was so much fun!
Not only did we have some of the best food including some of the best seafood I’ve ever eaten, but we also had a blast partaking in the activities and entertainment that resort offered. Sunday, the four of us were able to take a sail boat out to an island where we drank, ate, and snorkeled for the whole afternoon. Russell and I also had the opportunity to go scuba diving in a nearby reef. For those of you who don’t know, I am a certified diver, so I had so much fun getting to experience a new reef with Russell and see tons of sea turtles and other aquatic life. It was so great getting to recharge ourselves and celebrate my mom’s retirement.
Before I share my looks this past week, I wanted to share with you all a little about my home for the past week – Palace Resorts. This is my 5th time staying in this particular Palace Resort and I still can’t get enough! Moon Palace Cancun is the perfect vacation. The resort itself is breathtaking. There are 4 Lobby options within the Moon Palace Resort, each with its own set of perks. I am talking 2-3 pools per lobby each connected by bridges. They also offer a large with lots of activities. For those of you who prefer to stay in the resort, there are so many restaurant options and nightlife options available to you, including: a steakhouse, the best Italian food you will eat in the south, an amazing and authentic Mayan restaurant, a super fun “discotech”, and the best of bars and fruity drinks. If you are into exploring, this is also the place for you. You are not to far from the city so you are still able to partake in all that Cancun has to offer. My two favorite spots to eat in Cancun are Senior Frogs & Hacienda Sisal.(Sidenote: to experiance the best waves and the bluest water, I suggest going into the Moon Palace Resort’s – Beach Palace Cancun at least one time on your trip – it is included in your stay at Moon Palace!).There are also tons of fun bars and outdoor eats along the Cancun strip. This resort is truly the best of both worlds! Click here to see more pictures of the resort! (Note: All opinions are my own, this was not a sponsored trip or post 🙂 ).
Shop: Dress (Under $15)
Packing & shopping for this trip was so fun. Judging from most of my outfits I think it is safe to say I am a little tropical print/ bright color obsessed, but I couldn’t resist how perfect they all were for Mexico. All of these outfits are super affordable and perfect for the summer or any upcoming vacations. Most of the dresses also can be found in other colors :). Shopping the look is super easy, just click on the shop links under each picture. If you would like to know about sizes/fit or can’t find what you are looking for please let me know, I would be happy to help!
