It’s Friday!!

How has your week been? Mine has been so long, but I am excited to announce some good news in the coming weeks. Before I vow to take the rest of tonight and tomorrow off, I wanted to hop on here and share with you this chic and effortless work day look.

I love that you can take something as casual and comfortable as joggers and transform them into a work ready look. I found these slick joggers at marshalls and knew I had to have them. I paired them here with my favorite blush cami but it would also look look great with sweaters, button ups, or a great patterned blouse. Just grab a clutch and throw on a pair of heels, and this look is ready to go for date night, cocktail hours, or any other “after work events”

Although this is a perfect after work look, post places of business require you to be a little more conservative. I work in an office with a relaxed business casual dress code; however I still need to be professional and that does not include thin straps. The tough part about putting this outfit together was being more conservative while staying true to the cute city chic look. So, I have been pairing it with my longer open front sleeveless vest that I found online at Forever 21. You can find it on this page. This helps to hide the thin straps of the slip top but doesn’t take away from the feminine look. For cooler weather or more professional environments, this look would be perfect paired with a blazer jacket or even a cardigan.

I wore this look to the office last Friday and got so many complements! I was stunned because not only was this outfit thrown together with pieces I already owned, but it is also extremely comfortable, especially for a work look. {I don’t even think people realized these were athletic pants ;)}

If you love this look and have decided you NEED a pair of black joggers to take into fall, I have linked a couple of options that are extremely similar or you can head to your local Marshalls! How would you style yours?

His & Her Fall Style With Jord Watches

Jord Wood Watch in Slate

Happy Wednesday! As promised, I am getting into all of the detail about this gorgeous Jord watch and the awesome giveaway Russell and I are hosting with them!

Russell and I have so much fun getting dressed up to go to dinner, or the movies, or even out to shop in the fall. Most of the time, we end up coordinating our outfits without even meaning to. Does that happen to anyone else? We both have such similar taste, however we differ in one big area, accessories. I love accessories like jackets, purses, jewelry, etc. but Russ can take or leave them.  As long as I have known him, I have never seen him wear a watch or any other jewelry outside of his favorite silicone (think live strong) bible quote bracelet. That was until we heard about the gorgeous (and unique) wood watches by Jord.

Jord Wood Watch and Display Box

Jord Wood Watch

We both immediately fell in love with not only the color and styles, but how well they were made. We both tend to be a little rough on our clothes, shoes, and accessories so it was so great to see how durable this watch could be. Not only does it come in a beautiful (and durable) box, it also comes with a watch cleaner. That is something I always look for when picking jewelry because it can be such a pain to take it to get cleaned. Having that option right at home is a major plus.

This watch with its dark wood band and its slate and rose gold face immediately called our name. It is the perfect rough and rustic look for guys, but the rose gold adds a feminine touch making it perfect for girls too. It will be great for fall with for both nicer (and dressy) occasions for men but also with casual fall looks we are both wearing here.

Mens Casual Fall Style with Levi Trucker Jacket

Shop: Watch – Be sure to enter the giveaway here! // Men’s Levi Jean Jacket // Men’s Grey Jeans // Red Dress

I am sure you have seen this red dress everywhere, especially from the recent Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This was by far one of my favorite finds. The color is amazing for fall and will layer perfectly with cardigans, sweaters, and even alone with a blanket scarf when the weather gets cooler. I bought this dress specifically with OU game days in mind. The color fits perfectly into the crimson and cream and the light flowy material will look great with cowboy boots or sandals for game days.

There are a couple fall trends for men that we both really love for fall. The first is the denim on denim trend. This trend has been everywhere for girls lately, but it is also extremely popular for guys. When jean jackets became one of the “It” styles for men we both jumped right on it. This Levi jacket has been perfect for Russ with both dark jeans, light jeans, and colored jeans as styled here. Another big fall trend he loves is button up tee shirts like this one. They layer perfectly under jackets but are also great worn alone. He will typically roll the short sleeves slightly and it makes for a stylish yet casual look.

This is our first run at a his and hers style post, so if you would like to see more please comment or email me. We had so much fun creating these looks thanks to Jord Watches and would love to create more for you and your significant other !! I loved having Russell in the pictures rather than taking them for a change, isn’t he handsome? Haha! 😉

Don’t forget to follow this link to enter the giveaway for a $100 E-gift card to Jord Watches, as a thank you for reading and entering, each person who enters but does not win the giveaway will receive a $25 E-code! It is a little early to think about Christmas, but they do make great gifts for you or any special men/women in your life 🙂

Why I love my high rise denim

High Rise Distressed Skinny JeansHigh Rise Distressed Skinny JeansHigh Rise Distressed Skinny JeansHigh Rise Distressed Skinny JeansHigh Rise Distressed Skinny Jeans

Shop: Tank // Earrings // Shoes // Sunnies

I am so excited to finally share with you guys my favorite pair of jeans! I am sure you have noticed I wear these Levi high rise distressed jeans all of the time. When it comes to fitting jeans, I have a hard time finding brands I love. I have more of an athletic build, especially from my waist down so I have the hardest time fitting jeans for my legs and butt without them falling down on my waist. Truthfully, I have found that low rise jeans are NOT for made for me.  It wasn’t until the high waist trend started appearing everywhere that I knew these might be the perfect solution for my body. When I finally found these jeans last fall that I knew I was hooked on this style.

Every time I looked at Instagram last fall I fell more and more in love with these Levi jeans!!! I not only loved the style, but I loved the larger holes and how they paired with heels and wedges. I knew I had to take the leap and order. This was truly the first “light wash” jeans I had ever liked let alone loved and purchased so I was very skeptical. Four or five pairs light wash jeans later, I can honestly say these are my favorite.

They are super comfortable and have the perfect amount of stretch. Thankfully, I have never had the problem of them stretching out so much that they becoming loose and baggy or ever had to worry about them falling down. They also look great seriously with everything in every season.

These high rise jeans now come in seven colors, so I need help deciding which pair to go with next. What do you guys want to see styled this fall? The high rise “busted” skinny jeans in grey, white, green, or the darker denim?! P.S. I am always trying to find high waisted denim that I love as much as these, so if you run across any you LOVE please send them my way!

P.S. If you are looking for other ways to style Levi high rise jeans, check out these posts on both this blog Striped off the shoulder top and one of my favorite Instagram looks featuring my favorite “Red Tie Top

Maskcara Beauty’s Highlight and Contouring Kit

Processed with Rookie CamProcessed with Rookie CamProcessed with Rookie CamProcessed with Rookie CamProcessed with Rookie CamProcessed with Rookie CamProcessed with Rookie CamProcessed with Rookie Cam

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend!! Is anyone else super excited to watch the bachelorette tonight? I am so excited for today’s post and to share with you all my favorite new makeup and stylist – Jessie Haddock  with Maskcara Beauty. She is not only a hard working mom, and ER Nurse with (CRAZY) hours, but she is also a fantastic makeup artist!

So to start this off, I have a confession to make, I have never really been one to wear or go crazy over makeup. It was just never my thing. Even in middle and high school, I had a pretty clear face so I never felt it super necessary. Not to mention I played sports and worked out every day so I hated sweating my makeup off. Until a week or two ago I truly stuck with the basics – a good tinted moisturizer, occasionally a little bronzer, a pretty pink blush, eyeliner, mascara, and of course a little eye shadow from my favorite Naked pallet.

I had seen people both using and showing how to highlight and contour and LOVED it but it was never something I took seriously for myself. That was until I met Jessie. You guys she totally changed the makeup game for me.

In a little under 30 minutes, she taught me how to highlight and contour my face using Maskcara’s totally affordable “HAC” kit. Not only did she take the time to make sure I fully understood all of the steps to create the look, but she really listened to my concerns and taught me that with practice how to create an easy 10 minutes look. That was great for me, especially for those times that I am literally running out the door in the morning (which is always).

Y’all the products from Jessie’s Maskcara sight are gorgeous. Not only the way it looks on your face, or the way it makes you feel, but the packaging itself is stunning. I received this entire kit for a little over $70 dollars. At first I thought that was a little more expensive than I wanted to pay for makeup, especially compared to my usual 15 dollar moisturizer but it is totally worth it. Once you have the kit, you are able to buy replacement separately for anything you run out of. That has to be one of my favorite parts about this product and company. For $12 you can get any piece of the contour and highlight kit your run out of without buying a whole new kit. I have always found it so annoying that if you run out of one color on a pallet you have to buy the entire thing again, so this is amazing!!!

I have posted the step by step instruction video below, you guys it is seriously so helpful! I have also added and linked every single piece in my kit. Don’t forget to make sure Jessie is your stylist when you hit the product page:) Her stylist ID is #1266 and she can be reached via Instagram @jess.face.forward or using her email so be sure to follow her and ask any questions!

  1. HAC Brush (seriously so soft!)
  2. Beauty Blender (Even softer and way better than a drugstore brand!)
  3. Palette (This includes your highlighter, contour, illuminator, and blush – I am using the Medium Tan Palette)
  4. Stay Spray (This was not part of my original kit, I just got a sample but I am seriously in love and will be stocking up! I took pictures in 100 degree heat and my makeup stayed flawless! )

Be sure to check out this video for a step by step tutorial:
A special thank you to Jessie for providing me with this kit. I can’t wait to continue using it!As always, all opinions are my own. Be sure to brows her site and let us know if you have any questions or would like to see any before and afters 😦

Shop: Jeans – Similar Under $60 Here // Bag // Tank // Heels // Jacket

It’s Friday! That means only a couple days left to shop the Nordstrom sale! I have a few things left on my list to get (if they ever come back in stock). Have any of y’all tried the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings?  After seeing them on Kathleen of Carrie Bradshaw Lied I think I need them!

That brings me to this faux leather jacket (also on sale). I truly love leather jackets. They are a closet staple that can be worn year round and you can find them in so many colors. I wear my black one with shorts in the summer, dresses in the spring; any anything I can get my hands on during fall and winter. They are a great way to create an effortless (but chic and flawless) date night look, GNO look, or even the perfect office look.

This is one of my go to outfits; you can truly find pieces like this in any store and at any price point (I’ve found similar options to create this whole outfit under $50 linked below). A white tee or white tank is a must for fall! This tank layers perfectly and really helps to make a seamless look with the jacket.

I chose to pair this look with both my favorite leopard heels (on sale until Sunday) and a great pair of boot cut jeans. Honestly, I do not wear boot cut jeans often or really know how I feel about them without heels on but I am obsessed with them paired like this. I created this look for you all as an easy transition from work (PTL for casual Fridays) to date night. The boot cut jeans help to dress up the leather jacket and white tank for work while also keeping the look chic and stylish. The best part is you can wear this look now and add the jacket to transition it into fall and cooler temps.

If you are looking to create this look for less, I have tagged some options below (each piece is under $50) or for my exact look head to the shop links under the last picture J I love to hear from you all so if this is something you would like to see more often please let me know!

Get the whole look under $50: Jacket – (Under $40) // Tank (Exact from above and $15) // Leopard Heels ($32) // Jeans ($48) // Bag (On sale under $30 – tons of colors)

Hi Y’all! Happy Wednesday! Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days, it has been crazy between work, blogging, and living life. I am sure you know by now that the Nordstrom sale will be ending in just a few days 😦 that means that everything will be going back up to its original prices.

I also heard from a lot of you that you are ready to see easy transition looks for the fall. So, for the next couple of weeks, I will be posting a ton of looks that you can take from one season to the next just by changing one or two things on your outfit. For example, you can take a look straight into cooler temps just by changing out shorts for jeans or sandals for booties. I know that this time of year can be so expensive to shop so I am here to make it as easy (and as inexpensive) as possible.

This was a look I styled using items I already had in my closet from this year and last year. It was super simple to put together but is easily one of my favorites. This cowl neck sweater/vest is perfect for this time of year. You can wear it now with a pair of jeans or shorts to give you that fall look while staying cool in the 80-90 degree temps. (There is an identical sweater available from the Nordstrom sale linked here in tons of colors). This sweater will also layer perfectly closer to the end of fall and even into winter. Just pick your favorite long sleeve tee (I typically do a dark red, grey, or striped tee) and your look is ready for the cooler temps.

As far as accessories go, I am horrible about adding a lot of accessories to my look in the summer. I always feel like accessories combined with hot temps weigh me down. Does anyone else feel like that? In fall and winter I am totally opposite. I love accessories. I can see myself wearing this floppy hat, blanket scarfs, and every other fall accessory daily. I will let you in on a secret for fall accessories… always check your local Wal-Mart’s and Targets. Russell and I found this hat at Wal-Mart of all places for under $10 (linked here in two colors) and it looks way higher quality than $10! That is insane considering some run $60-100 dollars.  I also have picked up a few at Target under $30. These add the perfect fall touch to your outfit and are so cute!

I want to know, what are you guys most excited to see this fall? Anything I have to add to my cart?

Hi Everyone! On Instagram Stories yesterday I asked you all, what you wanted to see more of on The Finishing Touch. I had a wonderful outpouring of suggestions and recommendations and am going to work on implementing them. One of the tops was a FAQ post.

I really want to be open and honest with you all. This is one of my favorite spaces on the internet and I want it to be yours too. With that being said, I will work on letting you  into my personal life a little more but I would also love to get to know you all! I would love for you to email me ( a little about you and what you want to see here. In the meantime, I have taken the top 10 questions I am asked and answered below. Let me know if there’s something I am missing and I would be happy to add it or answer for you!

How did you get into blogging/ Why “The Finishing Touch”?

Fun Fact: I am a Stella and Dot stylist and have been since September of 2016. I originally created The Finishing Touch – OKC on Intagram as a creative outlet and a way to share my #stelladotstyle. After a month or so, I realized that I was sharing more outfit post than I was jewelry and accessories and I wanted to do more. After a lot of thinking, I finally told Russell I wanted to start a Blog. He was fully onboard and even offered to start taking my pictures (needless to say he got good at Iphone 7s in the beginning). A few weeks later, I started working on my site. I was on the computer day and night (well – before and after work) creating and designing my website. There were tons of changes daily to my theme, the header, and everything in between.  Finally on February 27th of 2017, Russell finally talked me into publishing The Finishing Touch an Oklahoma City life and style blog.

The name goes back to my original Stella & Dot Instagram. When I was thinking about names I really wanted something that reminded me of Jewelry and my initial mission which was sharing Stella & Dot. I always thought of accessories as “finishing touches” to your outfit and the name kind of stuck. Since then, I have considered changing my name but so far I have not thought up anything I was in LOVE with.

Do you have any advice on getting accepted into Reward Style?

This is a question I get all of the time. Truthfully, I am no expert on reward style or blogging and I can’t be sure exactly why I got accepted but my biggest advice is this… Stay engaged. For two months leading up to finally applying for Reward Style I posted every week day at the same time of day and worked to tag all of my photos with what products I was wearing. I actively commented and engaged with fellow bloggers and even my followers. Finally, I tried to make sure all of my photos were edited the same and had a consistent flow. I am not one of those bloggers that has an amazing color scheme that just mesmerizes you, but I did try to keep my outfits bright and simple which attracted a lot of my followers in the first place. For those of you still trying to apply to  GOOD LUCK – you’ve got this. If you have any other questions I would be happy to do my best to answer them.

What sizes do you typically wear/ how tall are you?

I am a 5’6.

I am a 34D to a 34DD so I typically size up in dress and tops to a medium. If I am wearing a small I will be sure to mention it in the post. I have a bigger back side 😉 so I really try to find higher waisted jeans but depending on the brand I wear between a 26 and a 27 in jeans and jean shorts. I am almost always ordering mediums in rompers, sweatpants, and any shorts that are sized like that.

Who is Russ/Russell?

Y’all don’t get me started on Russell. He is not only the best man I have ever met but I have been lucky enough to have known him since middle school and to call him mine for the last 2 ½ years. He is totally my rock, my best friend, my adventure buddy, and as of late he has been the one to make my little corner of the internet possible.

Who takes your photos?

I have a few different people I work with to take my photos. Who take them usually depends on the look, the week, and the vibe I am going for. I have a great friend Meredith Croak who has been taking my photos once or twice a month for the last few months. You can find her website here. I also have a couple of great blogger friends I occasionally meet up with to take pictures as well – Courtney from Life of a Medschool Wife and Abi from Abigail Say. I also am super lucky because Russell has played a huge role in taking my photos and that role is constantly growing with the new camera and equipment.

What app do you use to edit your pictures on your IPhone?

I try not to edit my photos too much but I do use a couple of apps. I have the full package on Rookie Cam – I love it. This app is great because it will allow you to adjust the brightness and contrast without turning your photos a weird color like the IPhone camera does. I also tend to use the “Bluebell” filter in the Vivid Focus package. It is a fairly bright filter with a blue tent that can be adjusted. It also has a blurring effect that can be adjusted which helps give your photos that expensive camera lenses “glow’.  I also use the app ColorStory occasionally. There are a ton of great filters to brighten your photos or give it a warm glow. The great thing about this app is the free version has a ton of amazing filters!

Is that your natural color or do you use a go tanning/ use self-tanner?

I was honestly surprised by how often I get this question. I am definitely lucky because I was blessed with Olive skin. I do not go tanning nor do I use self-tanner (not that I am opposed to it – if you have a good self-tanner please comment below – winters are not my friend). Like my dad, I tend to tan very easy and most summers I am darker than I am now. I also have a pretty even completion so I tend to only use tinted moisturizer with SPF in the summer rather than my usual makeup base.

What is the pink lip color you always wear?

I love love pink lipsticks but I also wear a lot of Nude, especially in the office. I like that a good pink lip not only adds little color but also make your teeth look 10X whiter which is great in pictures (haha). I go back and forth between drugstore lipsticks and nicer brands like Clinique and Mac.

The bright pink I wear is “flat out fabulous” by Mac. I also wear a lighter pink called “fire and ice” and it is my first lip sense! As far as drugstore brands go I use a couple of different ones. The first is NYX Matte Lipstick in “Shocking Pink” and Wet n Wild’s MegaLast lip color in Smokin’ Hot Pink or a gorgeous nude called “Bare it All

What store/s do you shop at the most?

Unfortunately, we do not have a Nordstrom’s in Oklahoma (yet – I am convinced we will get one) so I do most of my shopping from there online. I also love Dillard’s, Francesca’s, various boutiques around the city, Loft, and of course I am a loyal DSW customer. I am constantly mixing cheaper clothing (TJ Maxx / Target) with more expensive clothing from Dillard’s & Nordstrom’s. The majority of my work wear does come from Loft so I am constantly looking in their stores and on their websites for sales.

What are your favorite “reasonably priced” accessories brands?

I have heard from a lot of you that you would like to see more accessories, especially those that are reasonably priced or under $50! I totally hear ya! Accessories can completely transform you look but it’s so hard to spend a ton on an outfit then even more for the right accessories. I tend to go with these four stores when buying accessories:

Nordstrom – between their various partnerships they have a ton of vary reasonable priced jewelry, purses, and other accessories.

Stella & Dot – With new collections and pieces launching both quarterly and now monthly there is always something I need. Their signature engraveable necklaces have become a wardrobe staple. I throw mine on with everything. They also offer a ton of trendy pieces that are very versatile in every price point. One necklace can take you through the whole year by adding or removing a layer.

Charming Charlie – I have recently fallen in love with their on trend jewelry. They have several pairs of earrings and necklaces that are not only affordable but come in so many colors that you can always find one to match your outfit. I also love that they have perfect designer dupes when it comes to purses. This adds an extra element to your look without having to spend an outrageous amount of money.

Target – Y’all I love target. I am always finding perfect designer dupes on bags here. They also have a great selection of jewelry, and they have even stepped it up a notch with their SugarFix collection. I have been living in a few different pairs of their tassel earrings and I was shocked at how well they are holding up.

A few other places I shop for bags, jewelry, shoes, and other accessories are Dillards, Forever 21, & Francesca’s.

Happy Thursday Friends! I am sure all of you know that the Nordstrom sale is in full swing and items are selling FAST! I am talking within hours of being restocked!

The all access sale is going live at 12am PST, meaning that anyone and everyone can begin shopping these amazing deals! With items going so fast, I have linked a few of my favorites that are sure to sell out immediately (most have once already). To be sure you get everything on you want order early I suggest creating an account and adding everything to Nordstrom  wish list ahead of time. The strategy I went with was to order the items I wanted most as soon as the sale started and with free shipping place multiple orders to be sure one item doesn’t sell out while you are deciding on another (order in multiple sizes if necessary and return!)I know that seems overwhelming, but  just know that you can return anything that doesn’t fit or isn’t what you expect for FREE .

I personally missed out on a few of my most wanted items because I was debating on it and I am so disappointed when it showed as sold out. I will probably be up bright and early to shop those items if they are restocked. I also wanted to mention that if there is anything in particular (style/category/look) you are wanting and you can’t find it or if you would like any help putting outfits together please email me at! I will be up most of the night ready and willing to help you all get the most out of this sale! Be sure to message me any questions you may have! I will be doing a small try on session tonight on Instagram and would love for y’all to drop by and say hi!

Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale – Early Access

It’s finally here! The most talked about sale of the summer kicked off this morning with early accesses. In case you haven’t had time to browse the sale, I have added some of my favorites in each category. Just go to the top of the menu and scroll through!

This sale is the one time I totally justify ordering more expensive designer items that I have loved for the past few months. This is also the time that if I am debating on a size I will order a couple and sent the one that doesn’t fit back. Why?! Because if you love it you don’t want to take the time to send one back, it might be gone and with Nordstrom’s exchange policy, you never have to worry about returning or exchanging.

I really take advantage of this time to get things I’ve been wanting & closet staples for the fall. This year I am looking for a few things:

  1. I have been really into the cropped flare jeans lately so I am dying to find a pair!
  2. This moto jacket was everywhere last year and I finally am going to add it to my collection in a tan or army green.
  3. I am loving all of the Vince Camuto split top booties so I probably will pick them up in a couple of different styles while they are on deep discount! You can see them here!
  4. Jackets are my go to during the fall with this bipolar Oklahoma weather so I will be keeping an eye out for good layering tops (particularly in white, wine, and black)
  5. Finally, I am on the hunt for good makeup – particularly eye shadows and highlighters. I love makeup but can never justify spending $30-60 dollars on eye shadow so this is the time I will stock up on those and they will be posted in the beauty and accessories tab!

What are you searching for in the next couple of weeks? I would love to help!

Shop: Dress (wearing a small)// Shoes // Earrings

Good Morning Everyone!

I am so sorry I missed my usual Monday blog post! Between the two leadership committees I am on, meetings at work, and volunteering the past few days I have had no time to sit down and write.

If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw this gorgeous Maxi dress from The Posh Pineapple Boutique, a local store here in the OKC/Norman area. I was not surprised when it was a total HIT with my Instagram followers.

This dress is gorgeous! It has beautiful detailing on the back and is double lined with the pattern making it even better. I was so excited for this shoot because this dresses as so many pretty things going on. I got the dress and saw the button detailing down the front and was immediately in love. I have had a maxi with a front slit on my “To Buy” list for a long time so when I got this one in the mail I couldn’t have been happier!

I paired it with the cutest pink purse from target. Versatility in bags is super important to me so I loved that it can also be converted into a cross body.  Unfortunately I could not find it online but check your local target (a little birdie told me it was on SALE under $15!) Staying true to my colorful self I also paired it with these gorgeous beaded earrings from Charming Charlie. Would you believe you can scoop these up in tons of colors for only $12? They are selling out fast in stores so be sure to get yours here!

A special thank you to The Posh Pineapple for this dress! If you all have not checked out there site, please do! The clothes are amazing and when you sign up for emails you will receive $10 off and free shipping making this dress less than $50! Hurry sizes are already running out!
